WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE?
Acupuncture is a complementary medical practice that involves stimulating different points in the body to decrease pain and treat various health conditions. This is most commonly done with fine sterile needles, but can also include vacuum cupping and burning of a herb called Moxa.
Traditionally, acupuncture viewed that the disruptions of energy flow in the body was the cause of disease. Today, Western acupuncture uses the neural, vascular, hormonal and biochemical responses in the body to restore equilibrium in these energy systems. With its many beneficial effects, acupuncture can contribute to optimal health and recovery.
